Therapeutic Approach
At North Star Counselling, I work pluralistically — which means I don’t believe there’s one single “right” way to do therapy. Everyone’s needs are different, so I draw from a range of approaches and together we find what feels most supportive for you. Therapy is a shared process — a space where we can explore your experiences, make sense of what’s happening, and find ways to move forward that fit with your life and values. Sometimes that means time to talk and reflect, sometimes trying out practical tools, or using creative methods to explore feelings that are hard to put into words. We shape the process together, and it can change as your needs do.
Person-Centred Therapy
A safe and empathetic space where you can reflect, explore, and feel truly heard without judgment.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
A practical, structured approach that helps you notice unhelpful patterns and develop strategies for positive change.
Exploring how past experiences and relationships may be shaping your thoughts, feelings, and patterns in the present.
Psychodynamic Therapy
Creative Tools
We can use methods such as cards, stones, or timelines to explore our thoughts and feelings in different ways. These approaches can offer new perspectives and make it easier to express what might feel difficult to put into words.
In our sessions, I will collaborate with you to find the combination that works best for you. Some people prefer to stay with one approach, while others appreciate weaving different methods together as their needs change. My role is to walk alongside you, adapting therapy so it always feels relevant, supportive, and shaped around your unique journey.
